We are delighted to announce the 5th conference from the Global Congress of Special Interest Tourism & Hospitality (the 5th GLOSITH; www.glosith.org; Glosith2026conference@outlook.com) will be held at the Youngsan University in Busan city, South Korea from 30 Oct to 1 Nov 2026.
The conference aims to explore niche tourism and hospitality issues, and exchange new ideas in the contemporary tourism and hospitality within the globalized environment. The conference invites conceptual, empirical, and methodological research papers, and case studies on different tourism and hospitality themes. Papers are expected to address the theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of tourism and hospitality.
All submitted abstracts will follow a rigorous double-blind review process by the scientific committee and will be published in the conference proceedings based on reviewers’ recommendations.
Question 1: Why do YOU need to attend this conference?
Answer 1-1: There are fantastic opportunities to publish in leading SSCI journals in the fast-track. At least 20 full papers submitted to this conference will be selected as “Outstanding Full Paper” of the Conference (OFP) at the closing ceremony on 1 Nov 2026. Those 20 papers will be published by 31 December 2026.
Answer 1-2: Busan (the conference venue) is one of the hottest tourist destinations in Asia. You can enjoy the beautiful Haeundae beach and many other fascinating spots in this lovely city.
Question 2: When are the important dates? How much is the registration fee?

What does the registration fee cover?
It includes all of conference proceedings, access to full academic sessions, three lunches, and the gala dinner.
Question 3: I am not good in English, and I wish to make a presentation in Chinese language. Is there any session I can present in Chinese?
Answer 3: Don’t worry. Although most of presentations in this conference are be in English, there is a “Chinese Session”, where presenters and discussants will speak only Chinese. If you are to present a Chinese paper, you need to submit 300-word Chinese abstract to Glosith2026conference@outlook.com by 18 October. Three outstanding Chinese papers will be selected at the gala dinner and be published in Tourism Science (旅游科学) in three months.
Question 4: Is it possible for me to present one English paper and another Chinese paper?
Answer 4: Yes, it is possible. You only need to pay one registration fee in this case.
Question 5: If I present a paper online at the conference, is my paper still eligible to be selected as one of the “Outstanding Full Paper (OFP)”?
Answer 5: Yes, as long as you submit a full paper to the conference email address Glosith2026conference@outlook.com by 10 October 2026.
Question 6: If I present my paper only in the poster session, is my paper still eligible to be selected as one of the “Outstanding Full Paper (OFP)”?
Answer 6: Yes, as long as you submit a full paper to the conference email address Glosith2026conference@outlook.com by 10 October 2026.
Question 7: If my paper is not selected as a “Outstanding Full Paper (OFP)” by 1 Nov., what would happen to my full paper?
Answer 7: First, I hope your paper will be selected as one of the OFP at the conference gala dinner. But even if your paper is not selected as one of the OFP, all full papers submitted to this conference will be reviewed in the fast track by the International Journal of Tourism Research (IJTR) reviewers. But the authors need to submit full paper.
Question 8: What is the procedure on submitting abstract and full paper to this conference?
Answer 8-1: If you only want to have your abstract (without submitting a full paper to contend an OFP) published in the conference program and proceedings, please just submit only 300-word abstract to Glosith2026conference@outlook.com by 25 September (if you attend in person), or 10 October (if you attend online or by poster presentation).
Answer 8-2: If you want to have your paper be selected as one of the “Outstanding Full Paper” (OFP) of the conference, you have to submit a full paper to Glosith2026conference@outlook.com by 10 October 2026. In this case, the title of your 300-word abstract and the full paper have to be identical.
Question 9: Do I have to make a poster myself to bring to the conference if I want a poster presentation?
Answer 9: No, the conference organizer will make a high-quality color poster and will display it in a professional display set for you. You only need to send the poster contents to Glosith2026conference@outlook.com by 10 October 2026.
Question 10: What is the maximum word count for an abstract and a full paper?
Answer 10-1: 300 words in maximum including 3 to 5 keywords. No table, No figure, No references, please.
Answer 10-2: 9,000 words in maximum including abstract, tables, figures, and references. Please find and strictly follow the format in the example of abstract and full paper, which are separately attached.

Marianna Sigala is Professor of Marketing and Director of the International Hospitality Academy at the Newcastle Business School, University of Newcastle, Australia. A globally recognized expert in tourism and hospitality management, her research focuses on the application of information technology in the tourism and hospitality sectors. She holds a Google Scholar h-index of 70 with over 26,000 citations, reflecting her outstanding academic impact. A core member of over ten international academic organizations including CAUTHE and IFITT, has chaired Euro-CHRIE, and has received numerous international academic honors, her work provides key theoretical foundations for the global digital transformation of tourism.

Prof. Cihan Cobanoglu is currently the Provost of Virscend University in Irvine, California. He previously served as Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the Muma College of Business, University of South Florida, and held the McKibbon Endowed Chair. He also led the M3 Center for Hospitality Technology and Innovation. An internationally recognized expert in hospitality and tourism technology, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology (SSCI Q1, IF=6.9), President of the Association of Global Educators (AGE), and recipient of numerous honors including the 2023 International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism Lifetime Achievement Award. His research focuses on technology applications in the hospitality industry, with over 10,000 citations.
Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Science (旅游科学 CSSCI, Impact Factor: 1.6)
Hongmei Zhang is a Professor at Shanghai Normal University and Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Science (旅游科学 CSSCI, IF=1.6). Her research focuses on tourist behavior, destination marketing, and national park management. She has led a number of funded research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and published over 120 papers in both Chinese and international journals, including Tourism Management. She has been consecutively listed among Elsevier’s “Most Cited Chinese Researchers” in Business and Management.
